In celebration of Liverpool as European Capital of Culture 2008 and as one of the highlights of The Liverpool Comedy Festival three of Irelands comedy royalty are to pay tribute to this remarkable city in a very special one-off gig in Liverpool’s ECHO ARENA in recognition of the strong links held between this vibrant and culturally rich city and the people of Ireland.
Not so much THE THREE TENORS, more THE THREE FELLAS, TIERNAN, O’HANLON and MORAN promise to bring Liverpool to its feet when they appear on stage together for the very first…and probably very last time ever!
TOMMY TIERNAN has broken all Irish box office records over and over again by selling out in venues across Ireland and the UK, including a staggering current record of 150 dates in Dublin’s one thousand-seat theatre, Vicar Street. He received a jet-roar standing ovation from 4,500 people in The Marquee in Cork, stormed The Letterman Show in New York and recently when TIERNAN left the stage of the Gala in Montreal, over two thousand Canadians were on their feet in a sustained ovation to acknowledge one of the most extraordinary performances of stand up comedy in festival memory moving one critic to lament, “If only all stand up were this good!” This reaction not only confirmed that his comedy travels well, but demonstrates why he is now regarded as one of the top ten stand-up comedians in the English-speaking world.
ARDAL O’HANLON is Best known for the role of Father Dougal Maguire in Channel 4’s iconic series FATHER TED. Other acclaimed roles include George Sunday aka Thermoman in MY HERO and Eamon in BIG BAD WORLD. He is also the voice of Robbie in ROBBIE THE REINDEER. The High Priest of Comedy spent the whole of 2007 on an International comedic odyssey that took-in sellout tours of the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, Ireland and the Far East. ARDAL’S self proclaimed comedic style is Slyly subversive yet very silly. Ironically as his body falls apart his mind is quite strong and he’s fairly happy! “If you love comedy and smart talking – and only go to see one comedy show, make it O’Hanlon” – Daily Express
DYLAN MORAN is the star and creator of the award winning Channel 4 sit-com BLACK BOOKS. His big screen appearances have included RUN FAT BOY RUN and SHAUN OF THE DEAD. MORAN is a master of comedy, unpredictable, startling, bizarre, elegiac but above all brilliant and hilariously funny. His 2005 tour ‘MONSTER II’, packed out audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. A UK tour pre-ceded sell-out runs in New York and Los Angeles with a sensational appearance on LETTERMAN firmly sealing “The Oscar Wilde of comedy’s” place in the hearts of the American public. In 2006 LIKE TOTALLY sold out within hours. Watching MORAN perform is an exhilarating, unpredictable ride, In the words of The Observer; ”Dylan Moran makes you laugh so hard you have to put your head between your knees and gasp for air".
The Three Fellas is a one-off and totally unique live event, which promises to be one of the unmissable highlights of the Liverpool Comedy Festival and 2008 Capital of Culture Festivities. Book now to avoid disappointment.
